Week 48 - Our neighbourhood

We love where we live. The coastline, the greenbelts, the parks and ponds....there's definitely something to be said for our little slice of paradise. There are still areas waiting to be developed once the housing market picks up again, and I wanted to capture what it's like now, because things change fast, and who knows what it'll be like in another 5-10 years.

Week 47 - Happy Birthday Elisa

How can the youngest in our family suddenly be four?? Elisa is definitely coming into her own now. She has a stubborn streak that either makes us laugh or gets us frustrated, but at least she's demonstrating her own mind and character. This week was spent preparing for her party, buying supplies, wrapping gifts, planning party activities etc. She ended up having a really wonderful day with family and friends. It meant a lot to me that she had friends from kindy there, as previous birthdays she only had family. Now she is in kindy 3 days a week, she is making her own friends for the first time, and that makes my heart glad. You can see it in detail HERE.

Week 46 - TV, Movies and Media

I'm not a big movie watcher, though I used to be. (All my spare time it spent scrapping these days). DH and the kids love TV and movies however, and we have to be careful just how much media our girls are absorbing even when it's unintentional.

Week 45 - The Lord in our lives

I am mindful that all our blessings come from above, so wanted to show a little example of how we welcome Jesus Christ into our home. We have family home evenings on Mondays, Church on Sundays, and I am Secretary for the Relief Society at church, so I will occasionally have meetings, or be busy doing the newsletter, updating the Relief Society blog etc. We have family prayers daily, and try to teach the kids wholesome values that will strengthen their characters and hold them in good stead as they grow. We are teaching our girls modesty in the way they dress now, so come the teenage years they will already know the standard, and won't feel the rules are being changed on them. I have a strong testimony of our Lord and Savior, and I know that all good things come through Him and through our faith. I pray our girls will build their own testimony of Him in time. Week 44 - From the mouths of babes

I know, I know, Project 365 is supposed to be about taking a photo a day, and believe it or not I did take photos this week, but in putting the layout together, it just looked better without them. Our kids come up with some really funny stuff, and once I started listening out for them, I had no problem filling my notebook for this week's theme. You can see it up close in my Oscraps gallery.

Week 43 - Happy Birthday Brooke!

Brooke understood that having a party on her actual birthday (Oct 19th) wasn't possible with Daddy coming home right about then, and was happy to delay it a couple of weeks. The day was beautiful, she had a great time with friends, and everything was just perfect for her party. What a beautiful young girl she is. We are beyond proud. Week 42 - Cherishing Every Moment

Our attention this week was understandably all about Daddy and spending time with him. Brooke turned seven, and we went out for dinner, but will celebrate with a party for her at the end of the month. I can't even describe how happy we all are to be together again. Detailed views in my Oscraps Gallery.

Week 41 - Daddy comes home

This was a much anticipated event for us. Hubby had been away for six months, and we were so ready to welcome him home again. The kids painted a big welcome back banner, we got his Mum to send a batch of his favourite cookies from Christchurch, and the house had been spring cleaned in readiness. I think I was nervous as much as excited too, but the moment he arrived home all was good again. We've really missed him. You can see it up close in my Oscraps gallery.

Week 39 - Work, rest, play

Isn't it funny how when you're a Mum and you finally get a week to yourself, you spend it cleaning, doing housework, catching up on jobs and the like. I had a great week though, and the kids loved staying with their grandparents and cousins. Detailed images in my Oscraps gallery.

Week 38 - The books we read

I wanted to record what books we're into this year. As the kids grow their choices are certain to change. It'll be interesting to see if either of them pick up their parents love for fantasy science fiction. You can see this layout in detail HERE.

Sometimes I think it's looking back on the little everyday things that show us how much has really changed. Detailed views in my Oscraps Gallery.

Week 35 - The games we play

A very simple theme this week, but who knows what games kids will be playing in 10-20 years time? It'll be nice to look back and compare.

Week 34 - Self Improvement

I'd been thinking about all the little things we'd been working on. They didn't quite fit under the Challenges theme of Week 32, but I still wanted to document them, so this week they got their own page...

Week 33 -Our Wheels

Decided to go the easy route this week and document our 'wheels'. I bet in 20 years time we'll be looking back at these thinking they're so ancient looking. LOL.

Week 32 - Challenges

The challenges we face as a family are constantly changing and evolving. Who knows - next month we're likely to be facing a whole other set of challenges. I just wanted to record what we're going through right now.
